The Landseer is a good boozer, boasting comfy sofas, large tables good for groups and a good selection of drinks.

I regularly go here with a few friends for a social drink and a chat, generally fairly quiet yet with enough patrons for some ambient noise and a little atmosphere.

The pub would be a 4 star but I felt their food was not great. I think some of the previous reviews are being overly harsh with some 1 stars.
I had the burger which was fairly tasty but not amazing. Portion sizes large but so is the price. For this price I would expect a little bit more quality.

That said I would eat here again if I ended up having an extended boozing session and my friends wanted to stay. But I certainly wouldn't make a point of visiting for their food alone.

Staff are usually friendly but can sometimes be a little blunt which some people could interpret as rudeness.
Overall a solid pub with a nice large outside seating area in the summer.

A friend of mine describes the Landseer as the extension of their living room. And you know what? I agree :)

There are compfy couches, board games, fire places and above all, a super cute cat :3

The staff is really nice and makes you feel at home, and if you ask nicely they might shake up one of their special cocktails.

Cannot judge on the food as I have never eaten there yet, but if you're in for a drink and some chill time with some friends, definitely a place to consider if you're in the area.

Tip: Pub Quiz on Mondays as of 8pm - if you don't mind sex jokes, you'll have a lot of fun.

I love the room, I love the outdoor seating but that's where my love ends. The staff are super rude and make you feel like they'd rather be anywhere else but serving you. Worse still, they never change so they are always there.

The sunday roast is mediocre (workers club level) however my friend is a veggie and she loves the polenta roast. Because my friend loves the veggie roast I've endured it a few times and each time is the same bland experience. I can though recommend the bloody marys. They do tapas on other days but I've never tried them.

Among an area that boasts quite a lot of grotty pubs, the Landseer stands out as a classy joint, perhaps more suited to somewhere like Notting Hill or up the road in Highgate.

The large windows give a sense of space and light, and lots of low slung leather couches deliver a more relaxed feel than your average north London boozer.

There is a good selection of continental bottled beers and the tapas is excellent. One gripe is a lack of good music - unfortunately its mostly canned and monotone for now...

I'm going to get straight to the point: DO NOT EAT HERE. Yes, I know pubs are mainly for drinking, but if you are even toying with the idea of munching here... Don't! You have been warned.

Before visiting The Landseer, I checked some Yelps. Very stupidly, I chose to ignore the negative reviews, probably because I was craving a Sunday roast and it was nearby. What a mistake! The food at The Landseer is some of the worst I've ever tasted and is unbelievably expensive, but the place lures you in under false pretences because it has such lovely decor and a relaxed atmosphere. Beware the witch in the gingerbread house!

For starters we ordered pea and mint soup: it was barely lukewarm and looked like dishwater had been blended with snot (it tasted like it too). Who the hell cooked that rubbish and how did they get a job as a chef? My partner had spinach and feta crostinis to start...apparently they tasted OK, but he pulled out a massive hair from one of them! Mmm, yummy.

It only got worse with the roast, which was hands down, the worst I've ever had: frozen mixed vegetables, tiny Aunt-Bessie's Yorkshire pudding, the "roast" potatoes were probably boiled then deep-fried, horrible meat (probably from frozen, definitely not cooked fresh) and absolutely every one of these delights including the gravy, was tasteless. I showered on the salt and pepper, but still I wanted to sob into my (cold) plate. My partner had the polenta (veggie roast option) which had clearly been "char-grilled" somewhere other than Holloway, frozen, then defrosted in the kitchen at The Landseer.

I'm not a big drinker so can't comment on their booze, but when it comes to meals, you should only go here if you enjoy eating terrible food and love being ripped off whilst your at it. It's such a shame because the residents of Holloway could use somewhere for a nice Sunday roast. I think I'll stick to Amazon cafe on Holloway Road...no frills, but half the price of the Landseer and tastes lush.
